Bio-composite skyscraper façade

Solico Engineering and Holland Composites have developed a composite façade for a skyscraper office block based in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.

According to the companies, the 14,000m2 façade is made of around 1,100 3.6 x 3.8 m modules, made of Holland’s bio-based, fire resistant Duplicor composite.

"We see enormous potential for Duplicor in a wide range of construction applications, as the combination of structural performance, fire properties, and cost it offers is something we've not seen before in a lightweight composite – let alone a sustainable 100% bio-based one,” said Eric van Uden, MD of Solico.
