Notus Composites, a manufacturer of composite materials in the UAE, has supplied fire retardant prepregs to make the 3D composite façade panels of the Museum of the Future in Dubai.
The Museum of the Future in Dubai is reportedly one of the most complex composite projects to date, with more than more than 600,000 m2 of multiaxial glass and carbon fire retardant prepreg used to make the composite panels, plus a stainless steel outer cladding.
Each panel features Arabic calligraphy molded into each individual panel, with the black letters acting as glass windows in the façade.
Notus says that it is the only prepreg manufacturer in the world whose epoxy FR materials have successfully passed the challenging NFPA 285 test in accordance to Dubai Civil Defence (DCD) standards. They have also received Class A results for ASTM E84.
