Our new PremierUV products have ultraviolet weathering characteristics superior to competitive materials on the market. |

There are two products in the range:
- PremierUV VSH-25S; and
- PremierUV VLH-25S, which has improved shrinkage control relative to the PremierUV VSH-25S.
Both are glass fibre reinforced thermoset compounds with non-halogen flame-retardant technology.
The products are intended to be processed by compression moulding in matched metal die moulds, typically at 300°F (150°C) and 500-1000 psi (35-65 bar) pressure.
These SMCs are claimed to deliver top-quality colour retention (see chart) as well as resistance to chalking and glass bloom. Both are pigmentable for moulded-in colour and can accommodate a range of pigments.
Custom formulations also are available.
“We’re in the development stages for additional PremierUV materials, as well, and hope to bring them to market this fall,” reports Imbrogno.
- In May, TCG launched the PremierLT™ line of lightweight, high-performance thermoset SMCs designed for structural and semi-structural applications.
The Composites Group, headquartered in Ohio, USA, comprises three business units – Premix, Hadlock Plastics and Quantum Composites – and offers a portfolio of thermoset composite compounds and parts.
