Our new PremierUV products have ultraviolet weathering characteristics superior to competitive materials on the market.
Marc Imbrogno, corporate director of Market/Product Development, TCG

There are two products in the range:

  • PremierUV VSH-25S; and
  • PremierUV VLH-25S, which has improved shrinkage control relative to the PremierUV VSH-25S.

Both are glass fibre reinforced thermoset compounds with non-halogen flame-retardant technology.

The products are intended to be processed by compression moulding in matched metal die moulds, typically at 300°F (150°C) and 500-1000 psi (35-65 bar) pressure.

These SMCs are claimed to deliver top-quality colour retention (see chart) as well as resistance to chalking and glass bloom. Both are pigmentable for moulded-in colour and can accommodate a range of pigments.

Custom formulations also are available.

“We’re in the development stages for additional PremierUV materials, as well, and hope to bring them to market this fall,” reports Imbrogno.

The Composites Group, headquartered in Ohio, USA, comprises three business units – Premix, Hadlock Plastics and Quantum Composites – and offers a portfolio of thermoset composite compounds and parts.
