Pauger Carbon Composites, a Hungarian manufacturer of composite yachts and masts, designed and built the catamaran just in time for the race.

For the design of the twin-mast catamaran Pauger's objective was maximum power and lowest weight. The hulls are a carbon fibre epoxy composite sandwich structure cored with 3A Composites' new AIREX® T92 SealX PET-based core material. This core material exhibits low resin uptake in the infusion process used to manufacture the hulls and thus helped keep the boat’s weight to a minimum.

“We’re very satisfied with the new AIREX T92 SealX as its extremely low resin uptake made it the lightest core material for our application," reports Dénes Paulovits, Pauger's founder and manager.

As well as winning the Lake Balaton regatta, the Pauger team also also broke the race's long-standing speed record by completing the 150 km course in 10 hours and 13 minutes. With wind speeds of 10 knots the boat achieved speeds of 24 knots.
