Composites Horizons showcases expanded capabilities

Recent investments at CHI include an ASC high-temperature autoclave that reaches 800°F and 250 psi, installed in 2010. This autoclave allows tighter control of temperature settings, pressure parameters and electronic data collection.

More recently, an oven with a maximum temperature of 600°F has been commissioned.

"These new investments are a part of CHI's strategic plan to produce the highest quality composite parts using the most efficient manufacturing practices," reports Jeff Hynes, President of CHI. "CHI has added significant manufacturing capacity, including the ability to build larger aerospace structural components, turbine engine ducts and BMI tooling for customers."

Composites Horizons Inc (CHI), located in Covina, California, USA, supplies composite products and composite tooling for aircraft and aircraft engine manufacturing, space components, and medical diagnostic equipment.

CHI is part of Hampson Industries plc, a UK headquartered group serving the global aerospace market.

The SAMPE 2001 conference and exhibition took place in Long Beach, California, on 23-26 May.
