Loop Technology part of UK’s £80 mn aerospace investment

Loop Technology says that it is part of a £80 mn project to develop more fuel-efficient aircraft in the UK.

The company, which makes automated equipment for manufacturing large-scale composite parts, has joined with Boeing, The University of Sheffield Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (AMRC), and Spirit AeroSystems in the project, called Isothermic High-Rate Sustainable Structures (IHSS).

Plans are for the companies to improve automated dry fiber and resin infusion manufacturing methods, in turn increasing manufacturing rates and production efficiency, according to Loop.

“The positive impact this will have on the business, our supply chain and wider community is incredible and is another step towards realising our ambition of becoming a major player in the aerospace automation sector,” said Alun Reece, managing director of Loop Technology.
