The company will be exhibiting a glass fiber-reinforced plastic (GRP) leaf spring at CAMX.

SGL Carbon plans to showcase its automotive, aerospace and industrial composites at the CAMX show, taking place from 23–26 September 2019 at Anaheim, CA, USA.

Covering the automotive sector, the company will be exhibiting a rear spoiler made of carbon fiber fabrics for a sports car manufacturer and a glass fiber-reinforced plastic (GRP) leaf spring designed for the rear axles of various models made by Volvo. The spring is up to 65% lighter than conventional steel springs, leads to smoother handling of the vehicle and allows for space inside the vehicle, the company says.

For industrial applications, SGL Carbon plans to exhibit a cross bar made of carbon fiber-reinforced plastic (CFRP) for the automation industry. As well as strength and rigidity, the main advantages of the CFRP material are its low thermal expansion and good damping characteristics, the company says.
