Resin system for telecommunications

Chemical specialist Arxada and thermoplastic manufacturer Novoset LLC have signed an exclusive license agreement to produce a hydrocarbon-based resin system for telecommunications and semiconductor packaging.

Plans are for Arxada’s composite materials business to develop, manufacture and commercialize the resin system developed by Novoset. The new material will be part of Arxada’s Primaset range of thermoset resins that are used in composite materials for aerospace, space, automotive and industrial applications.

According to the companies, the resin systems have improved dielectric performance, high temperature resistance and low moisture absorption when compared to existing Arxada products.

The products will be developed and manufactured in the company’s facility in Visp, Switzerland, with plans to begin sampling of the material in Q2 2022.

The collaboration is reportedly the fourth between Novoset and Arxada since 2011.
