Refitech acquires five-axis machine

Refitech Composite Solutions has installed a new five-axis computer numerical control (CNC) machine designed for the finishing of composite components.

According to the company, it already has three-axis machining systems, but the new acquisition will make it easier to process more complex 3D shapes automatically more quickly, with better quality and reproducibility.

“With this new five-axis machine, we can perform further post-processing on almost all the composite components we make,” said Marcel Gillis, CEO of Refitech. “Some manual finishing of composites will remain for the time being, but the intention is to optimise this even further in the coming years.”

The machine was acquired from milling specialist Zogno, based in Italy.
