Granta Design has reportedly made two important improvements in its materials support for computer-aided design (CAD), computer-aided engineering (CAE) and product lifecycle management (PLM) software. The new improvements will make it easier for product development teams to access more reliable, controlled materials data,

Granta plans to launch a new integration option entitled MI:Enterprise Connect for Teamcenter, that enables automated enterprise-level synchronization of approved materials datasets from the Granta MI materials information management software into Teamcenter PLM. Granta has also released an improved version of its MI:Materials Gateway embedded applications for direct end-user access to materials data from within a broad range of CAD, CAE, and PLM software, supporting fast product analytics and accurate simulation.

MI:Enterprise Connect allows organizations to define summary catalogs of materials from their GRANTA MI implementation and to schedule automatic synchronization of this data at the server level with Teamcenter, maintaining formal revision control. Assignments to product designs can then be made using Teamcenter Integrated Material Management. This approach is particularly suited to deploying and maintaining approved or preferred materials lists derived by materials or commodities teams.
