DolphiTech has started to deliver its DolphiCam ultrasound NDT inspection systems to Volkswagen Group and Audi. The system will be used for damage inspections of automotive carbon fiber (CFRP) primary structures in collision centers globally.

The DolphiCam NDT (non-destructive testing) system detects impact damages, delamination and debonding defects in carbon fiber structures. The system guides the operator through inspections to make sure the correct inspection procedure is applied to the area with suspected damages.

‘The Audi Space Frame used in the latest version of Audi R8 sports car uses a combination of aluminum and CFRP to reduce weight,’ said Jan Olav Endrerud, CEO of DolphiTech. ‘We have developed a NDT solution that gives trained and certified technicians in Volkswagen Group collision centers an easy to use yet powerful tool to inspect composite primary structures.’
