Solvay wins prize for polymer coating

Solvay and Essex Furukawa Magnet Wire Europe (EFMWE) have won a prize from Magna Powertrain for their development of automotive magnet wires. The winning concept uses EFMWE’s high voltage winding wire (HVWW) technology for electric traction motors and an insulation coating using Solvay’s KetaSpire PEEK polymer.

The KetaSpire® PEEK wire insulation is applied using an extrusion process and helps improve heat and chemical resistance. It can also operate at higher voltages of above 600V.
