Sicomin is an established supplier of specialist resins into the super yacht and racing yacht sectors.
Sicomin is an established supplier of specialist resins into the super yacht and racing yacht sectors.

Sicomin’s desire to achieve LR approval is in response to increasing demand for its products from the UK, Netherlands, Germany and Turkey.

The Sicomin resin systems which are approved for use in the construction of marine craft built under the Lloyd’s Register’s Survey are:

  • SR 1280, developed for manufacturers looking for a low viscosity epoxy easy to hand laminate. Used in conjunction with the hardeners SD 4770 (very slow) and SD 4775 (fast), the system can be mixed for intermediate reactivity. During differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) tests, SR 1280’s Tg onset is calculated at approximately 100°C. The product has been used for several marine projects including under water applications in the renewable energy sector.
  • SR 8100, a very low viscosity product designed for infusion and resin transfer moulding (RTM) techniques. In addition to LR certification, SR8100 has also achieved Germanischer Lloyd approval and is utilised by Sicomin customers in the industrial, marine, energy, transportation, and sports and leisure sectors. SR 8100 is a two-component system and is compatible with a variety of hardeners allowing the construction of small to large parts with rapid remoulding time.

Sicomin, headquartered in France, is celebrating 30 years in the composites business this year.
