The Composites Leadership Forum (CLF), a body created to promote composites, has released a new report on how the materials can improve climate change.
The report details how composites can play a role in helping the UK achieve a Net Zero, where the amount of greenhouse gas produced and the amount removed from the atmosphere is the same.
In April 2021, the UK government set targets that the country would be Net Zero by 2050.
According to the CLF, composites could help the UK achieve decarbonisation and will underpin government strategies around energy, hydrogen, innovation, industrial and transport decarbonisation, exports and net zero.
However, the industry needs to develop composite products to support the battle against climate change and help decarbonize the UK economy.
