Porcher Industries, which makes technical textiles and thermoplastic composites, has completed its acquisition of a new US plant.
The plant was acquired via Porcher Industries’ US subsidiary, BGF Industries and is based in Altavista, Virginia. According to the company, it was purchased to help meet increasing demand from automotive OEMs for the manufacture and supply of glass fiber insulation materials, automotive exhaust components and subassemblies.
The new plant is situated on a 63-acre plot which provides scope to expand the existing 144,000ft2 facility further if growth continues and other application opportunities arise.
Transfer of machinery and equipment including die cutting and CNC machines and welding and part forming work centers, is already under way and it is expected that the plant will be fully operational within Q1 2018. The company now offers 40 new positions in addition to those existing operatives and management that joined from the previous owner of the site.
