Polytec closes Swedish automotive composites plant

The Swedish site mainly produces composite parts for the truck industry using sheet mould compound (SMC).

In the business year 2008, Polytec Composites Sweden AB in Ljungby, which has 140 employees, achieved total sales of €20 million. The plant's production will be gradually relocated to other plants in the Division during 2009.

Polytec's decision to close the Swedish plant is part of a restructuring programme for the Automotive Composites Division, in order to adjust its capacity to the current market conditions.

Polytec's Automotive Composites Division develops and produces composite parts at 10 locations. Products include external panel sections, and functional and structural parts for passenger cars and trucks.

The Polytec Group, headquartered in Austria, is a developer and manufacturer of plastic parts for the automotive sector.
