Magnum Venus Plastech (MVP) president, Tom Hedger, is joining the board of the American Composites Manufacturers Association (ACMA).

Having worked in the composites Industry for most of his career, Hedger has had the opportunity to watch the changes that have taken place in the industry. In recent months, he has been working with the ACMA and other composites equipment and product manufacturers to stop a move by the US Department of Health and Human Services to list styrene as a “reasonably known carcinogen.”

Janicki Industrieshas hired Justin Von Hagel as Director of Aerospace Parts Programs, a new position. Von Hagel will be responsible for business development in the fly away aerospace parts production market. Janicki Industries expects to be AS9100 certified during the fourth quarter of 2011, which will further facilitate this line of business.

Prior to joining Janicki, Von Hagel was Director of Engineering at Triumph Composite Systems in Spokane, Washington, since 2005.

PPG Industries’ Fiber Glass business has added three researchers to its new product development and technology team.

Brad Busche has been named senior research engineer for North America, Elizabeth Skomra joins PPG as senior research engineer, and Rochelle Bradford has been appointed research and development product chemist to help develop improved materials for structural composites in the energy and infrastructure markets.
