Owens Corning plans opening of China Composites Centre

"Our new China Composites Centre in Shanghai demonstrates our commitment to provide customers locally with customised solutions," says Owens Corning Vice President of Innovations for the Composite Solutions Business, Dr Ashish Diwanji.

"We will partner with our customers in the region to grow the use of composites materials in existing and new applications."

The China centre will focus on customer activities including composite prototyping, materials testing, designing with composites, technical support and developing new solutions, particularly in applications for renewable energy, residential and commercial building and vehicle components. It will also partner with local universities and institutes specialising in materials science, chemistry, characterisation and processing.

"Owens Corning is committed to establishing a local presence to grow composites applications and accelerate the development of the Chinese composites industry," notes Owens Corning Group President of the Composite Solutions Business, Arnaud Genis.

"Our proximity to customers will lead to co-developing opportunities with them."

The China team will be part of a global network of scientists and engineers connected to Owens Corning's innovation sites around the world: Granville, USA; Chambery, France; Zele, Belgium; Apeldoorn, the Netherlands; and Ibaraki, Japan.
