Owens Corning joins TenCate / BASF alliance for thermoplastic automotive composites

BASF and TenCate Advanced Composites announced their strategic alliance in October 2012. (See BASF and TenCate team up on automotive thermoplastic composites.) It will involve the development, production and commercialisation of thermoplastic composite materials suitable for high-volume vehicles.

TenCate Advanced Composites has a leading position in continuous fibre reinforced thermoplastic composites with its Cetex® products, which are mainly used for aircraft structures and interiors. BASF will contribute its expertise in the production and formulation of thermoplastic resins in order to develop special variants of its Ultramid® (PA), Ultradur® (PBT) and Ultrason® (PESU) products.

Owens Corning is a global producer of glass fibre reinforcements for composite systems.
