Made with Advantex® E-CR glass and featuring a proprietary sizing, OC HiLight roving is designed for unsaturated polyester resin panel applications. The roving is reported to achieve superior translucence versus competitive products by minimising the appearance of white fibres, avoiding air entrapment and reducing light distortion.
“OC HiLight roving offers many advantages to laminate panel manufacturers, starting with outstanding translucence, optical quality and light transmission,” claims Hans van der Steen, Owens Corning product leader for chopped strand mat and assembled rovings in Europe and Asia Pacific. “The product works well in different processes and gives designers more flexibility with complex and decorative shapes.”
The roving is said to enable higher glass content in finished laminates, which delivers strength and stiffness and requires less resin in a thinner panel. This translates to lower costs for manufacturers.
“We are confident that the properties of this innovative product will drive use of translucent panels in a broad range of energy-efficient building applications,” says van der Steen.
