New plastics plant in Finland

Finnish plastics manufacturer Walki Group has opened a new €13 mn production line in the town of Valkeakoski to make fiber-based products.

“This new production line will cater to the fast-growing demand for fiber-based and recyclable materials, both in our consumer packaging and construction materials segments,” said Leif Frilund, President and CEO.

“Regulation creates the need for materials that can replace aluminum in construction facings without compromising flame-retardance,” added Kari Salminen, Deputy CEO. “We will produce new facings coated with a flame-retardant substance for polyurethane insulation.”
