The R & D facility reinforces Formax's commitment to providing bespoke material solutions its customers, which include yacht builder Sunseeker, sport car manufacturer Lamborghini and windsurf board maker Cobra.
Based at the Formax headquarters in Leicester, UK, the facility includes a 60 m2 laboratory. It is scheduled to be fully operational by January 2011 and will be run by Tom James, who has been appointed Head of Research and Development.
Formax researchers and composite engineers will work with customers' engineering teams to develop and test reinforcements that are optimised with respect to strength, stiffness and ease of infusion.
