Led by Hyundai Motor Company, the Intrado project features a new construction method that brings together lightweight steels and a strong, rigid, lightweight carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) structure, powered by a hydrogen fuel cell.

The concept uses CFRP frames for the doors, the roof and for a structure to package the fuel cell. The frame was designed by Axon.

Hyundai claim that the new manufacturing and joining processes for the Intrado's lightweight carbon-fiber structure has ‘the potential to change the way cars are made’.

‘The combination of state of the art hydrogen powertrain and superlight all carbon fiber body structure make this vehicle a strong candidate for the world’s most advanced green car,’ said Axon’s founder, Dr Steven Cousins.
