Gurit, which makes composite materials, components and technologies, has won a new contract for the production and supply of carbon fiber-based exterior car body panels to an Italian automotive OEM.
Total value of the two-year contract is at around CHF 9 million and supply to the project is scheduled to start in January 2018.
As part of the contract, Gurit will supply carbon fiber-based hoods and further exterior body panels made using the company’s press. Gurit has also been involved in the structural design of the parts, including finite element analysis (FEA) for mechanical loading performance and head impact predictions of the parts.
Volume production of the car parts will be carried out at Gurit’s Hungarian plant.
