Enguard bonding pastes receive GL approval

Enguard BP 6200 ARF bonding pastes are recommended for the manufacture of wind turbine blades and adhesion of joints in other demanding applications where high toughness is required.

The bonding pastes are based on an epoxy modified vinyl ester resin. They are pre-accelerated bonding pastes, cured with standard methyl ethyl ketone peroxide and no special peroxides are needed.

The bonding pastes contain a colour indicator to indicate proper peroxide mixing, and rheology has been designed to have very good sagging resistance and excellent flow properties when using pump dispensing equipment, Ashland explains. "Ashland Performance Materials is excited to offer high performance products into the global wind energy market that bring value and productivity improvements to the customer,” says Kevin Lambrych, Global Wind Energy program manager, Ashland Performance Materials.

“We are pleased to add the Enguard BP 6200 ARF series to our portfolio of GL approved products along with Derakane™ vinyl ester resins, Aropol™ unsaturated polyester resins, and Maxguard™ gel-coats used in the fabrication of wind blades today.” Ashland Performance Materials, a commercial unit of Ashland Inc, USA, is a global supplier of unsaturated polyester resins and vinyl ester resins, as well as gel-coats, adhesives, coatings and elastomers.
