Ashland enters manufacturing agreement with Boytek of Turkey

Under the proposed deal, Boytek will produce Ashland’s Aropol™ unsaturated polyester resins at its manufacturing facility in Cerkezkoy Tekirdag, Turkey. Boytek also will add Ashland’s Maxguard™ gel-coats, Aropol pultrusion resins and Hetron™ fire retardant resins to its distribution portfolio in Turkey.

Ashland will add Boytek’s resins to its resin and gel-coat portfolio to customers throughout Europe, with a specific focus on Central Eastern Europe.

“Boytek has developed a strong reputation in the region as a high quality producer of resins and gel-coats, making this a good fit for Ashland,” says Stefan Osterwind, commercial director, Ashland Performance Materials, EMEA and India. “With manufacturing capabilities central to strategically important growth markets in the region, this is a major step forward in supporting Ashland’s strong commitment to serving composites manufacturers, specifically in Central Eastern Europe.”

Boytek Recine Boya Ve Kimya Sanayi Ticaret AS is a private enterprise based in Istanbul and founded in 1978. Its products include unsaturated polyester resins, gel-coats, vinyl ester resins and pigment pastes. Boytek distributes Owens Corning Vetrotex (OCV) products in Turkey and neighbouring countries.

“We believe that this cooperation will open up new horizons to both Ashland and Boytek,” adds Ismail Darcan, founder and CEO of Boytek. “We hope this will be the first step to build an even stronger partnership that will be beneficial not only to both companies, but also, and most importantly, to the composites industry.” Ashland Performance Materials, a commercial unit of Ashland Inc (NYSE: ASH), USA, produces unsaturated polyester resins and epoxy vinyl ester resins.
