Demand can be unpredictable in the medium term. Whilst ultimate or overall production levels may be known, start timing and progress of projects can vary and be subject to surprises or delays. This poses problems for suppliers with limited production rates, limited storage times and long lead times for new production, ranging from carbon fibre to specialist adhesives or sealants.

At some point the composite used has to be combined with other materials – either metal fixtures or plastic sheets and items. Joining differing materials presents challenges and unneeded expenses such as autoclaves.

We have localised methacrylate adhesive production to the region so that we can offer fresh stocks at short notice. We have adhesives that focus on minimising the need for surface preparation and maximise the adhesion to difficult surfaces either low in energy or containing metals. Our adhesives cure quickly at room temperature, reducing processing costs.

COMPOSITES EUROPE 2013 show highlights

At COMPOSITES EUROPE 2013 we shall be demonstrating our adhesives that are toughened against impact damage (common to modern light weight components) and fatigue damage (common to transportation components).

We shall be showing how the elimination of primers can remove another risk of assembly error. In particular we shall be looking at bonding metals, plastics and carbon fibre composites – all with products made in Europe on short lead times. ♦
