Chemicals company Lanxess has commissioned a new blow-molding system at its technical center in Dormagen, Germany.

The company says that its High Performance Materials (HPM) business unit has set up a global team tasked with developing blow-molding materials for powertrain applications.

The new KBS20-SB extrusion blow-molding machine, made by from Germany-based Kautex Maschinenbau, is one of two tools for manufacturing close-to-production components for these applications, the company says. One is designed for air ducts such as charge air ducts or clean air ducts in combustion engines, while the second is designed mainly for blow-molded liners for high-pressure tanks in hydrogen- and natural-gas-powered vehicles.
