Amber Composites has broken ground on a new building at its facility in Langley Mill.

The new facility will be dedicated to the production of composite materials, including Amber Composites’ prepreg, surface film, adhesive film and syntactic core, and will more than double the company's production area.

“The demand for lightweight materials continues to rise, and we’re investing in technology, equipment and facilities to meet that demand while keeping our lead times as short as possible,” reports Jonathan McQueen, Managing Director of Amber Composites.

Amber Composites began developing and manufacturing prepreg in 1988. Under new management since 2007, the company has invested in upgrading its facilities and capabilities. It has installed a unidirectional (UD) manufacturing line, an updated research and development laboratory, a cold storage building, and new core processing equipment.

The new Amber Composites prepreg facility will be fully operational in 2012.
