3A Composites reports that AIREX T90.60 polyethylene terephthalate (PET) core material combines the outstanding fire resistance of the AIREX T90 product family with a low density of 60 kg/m3 which until now has been associated with polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and polyurethane (PU) foams.
T90.60 is also said to have high mechanical properties and long term stability as well as very good insulation characteristics and moisture resistance.
3A Composites believes AIREX T90.60 will be used in applications that are weight and cost sensitive, such as fire resistant parts for interiors in the rail, bus, aerospace and marine sectors. The company also sees potential uses in structural or semi-structural applications in architecture and construction products including roofs, domes, mobile housing, shelters, claddings or even furniture.
3A Composites Core Materials is part of 3A Composites, a division of Swiss company Schweiter Technologies AG.
