RocTool plans to introduce a new molding technology at JEC World 2016, which takes place from 8-10 March 2016 in Paris, France.
The Light Induction Tooling (LIT) process in an out of press and out of autoclave process is adapted to thermoplastic and thermoset composites and enables the production of very large parts, according to the company. It is suitable for aerospace, automotive and transport applications.
‘With this new out of press and out of autoclave (OOA) technique, manufacturers can now increase their capabilities without investing in large tonnage machines and the OEM can extend their supply chain for such composite parts,’ said Mathieu Boulanger, RocTool CEO. ‘Making large composite parts without compression machines, with light tooling configurations and precise temperature control is a game changer.’
The process also makes it possible to reduce the thickness of the tools and shorten the heating and cooling times achieving cycles below three minutes for various materials.
