Glass fiber composite for battery applications

Asahi Kasei has developed a new continuous glass fiber reinforced thermoplastic that it says has improved tensile strength, high heat resistance, and impact properties similar to metal.

Lencen is made by stacking layers of continuous glass fiber textiles with polyamide 66 (PA66) films.

The company says that it is suitable for electric vehicle (EV) battery applications where it can improve collision safety and reduce weight.
