BASF says that it has developed a new melamine resin foam with improved emission properties.

According to the company, the new Basotect UF+ grade replaces Basotect UF and is suitable for insulating rail vehicles and heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) technology in buildings.

Basotect UF+ reportedly has high elasticity, low thermal conductivity, and a low density of 7 kg/m³ without release of mineral fibers during processing. The high flexibility enables individual solutions to fit into very small gaps as well as for highly curved surfaces, e.g. ceilings and walls. Basotect UF+ meets fire safety requirements including the American ASTM C1410 test standard for industrial applications.
