Fibermaq, a Brazilian supplier of equipment for composites molding, plans to present its Evolution gelcoat machine at Interplast taking place from 16-19 August in Joinville, SC, USA.
The equipment reportedly now has a new pistol, which is lighter and more ergonomic than the previous model. The Evolution gelcoat machine also has no apparent moving parts. ‘We install a metal box that protects the operator from contact with various components,’ said Christian de Andrade, director of Fibermaq. Other differences are the greater strength of the peroxide pump, made of stainless steel and with no plastic parts, and the presence of a passing display accessory that alerts the operator of the lack of peroxide in the packaging or when there is an obstruction in the line.
Fibermaq will also announce at Interplast the recent NR-12 certification of its RTM Evolution injection machine. ‘We were the first company in our industry to achieve this certification,’ said Andrade. A standard of the Brazilian Ministry of Labor that intended to increase the safety of operators of various types of machinery, NR-12 determines that any danger zones, such as openings and passageways, must be enclosed. It also requires the installation of protections or fairings that prevent the operator's access to moving parts, such as gears, pulleys, belts and motors.
