According to the company, the unit uses compressed to swirl the individual fibers for all fiber strands in parallel to create a secure connection with the changeable fibers. Until now, the rovings have either been knotted or spliced by hand when they are changed, Roth said. The automated process, together with the corresponding machine, can realize the fiber changing process more quickly and safely.
The company has also developed winding software, called µRoWin, which can generate programs for filament winding machines. According to the company, it allows all relevant input parameters to be checked at any time, helping improve fiber placement.
The winding structure can also be designed and improved using 3D simulation in advance.
