eVTOL can travel in air and on land

Alef Aeronautics has developed a carbon fiber electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) vehicle which it says can be both flown and driven.

The “Model A” flying car has a driving range of 200 miles and a flight range of 110 miles. It has a distributed electric propulsion system and no exposed propellers, its makers say.

“By enabling consumers to choose driving or flying mode, the Alef flying car allows the optimal path depending on road conditions, weather and infrastructure,” said Alef CEO Jim Dukhovny.

According to Dukhovny, the company has been test driving and flying a full-size prototype since 2019.

Plans are to begin production of the US$300, 000 car at the end of 2025. Alef is also aiming to develop a four person car in 2035. It will be capable of flying 300+ miles with a driving range of 220+ miles, the company said.
