A team of engineers at Kocaeli University have won a design award for a composite electric vehicle (EV).

The Türk Mekatronik team obtained the first place in the design category during the Tübitak Efficiency Challenge in Turkey.

The project was sponsored by Turkish composite manufacturer Kordsa, which also supplied carbon fiber fabric for the interior of interior, inner and outer door, chassis, suspension and instrument panel of the EV.

The EV is 3.5 ms long, 1.7 m wide and 1 m high. The team, which previously produced a 430 kg single-motor electric vehicle, succeeded in reducing the weight of the new dual motor vehicle by 45% to 240 kg.
