Toray Industries Inc is to acquire 55% of outstanding shares of Italian prepreg manufacturer Delta Tech SpA, headquartered in Lucca, Tuscany.
Delta Tech and its wholly owned subsidiary Delta Preg SpA will be subsidiaries of Toray.
Delta Group is involved with the development and supply of prepreg for automobile applications. Toray says that it has already been supplying Delta Group with a supply of its Torayca carbon fiber and this new acquisition reinforces its carbon fiber intermediate business in Europe, along with Composite Materials (Italy), a company it established by acquiring the carbon fiber textile and prepreg business from Saati SpA in January 2015.
Under a current medium-term management program, Toray plans to position its carbon fiber composite materials business as one of its strategically expanding businesses and is pursuing business expansion through active investment of management resources.
