Teijin Limited says that Teijin Carbon Vietnam Co Ltd (TCV), its business in Ha Nam, Vietnam, has started commercial production of its carbon fiber products including a resin infused prepreg.
TCV will initially produce carbon fiber materials for sports and outdoor activities, including fishing, golf, bicycle and ice hockey goods, for markets in Southeast and South Asia and Asia-Pacific, the company said.
According to the company, the demand for rigid and lightweight carbon fiber is growing in Asia, especially in the fields of sports, industry and aerospace. Covid-19 has also led to a new focus on outdoor activities, such as fishing due to social-distancing protocols.
