Teijin Limited plans to expand production of its Technora para-aramid fiber by 10% through increasing capacity in its facility based in Matsuyama, Japan.
Construction will begin in June 2016 at a cost of Y1.5 billion, with operation slated to begin from October 2017.
Teijin says that its increased production of Technora is in response to increasing market demand worldwide. Technora para-aramid fibers are suitable for applications including reinforcement materials for automobile rubber parts and composites, civil engineering ropes and cables and protective clothing. They feature high tensile strength and resistance to impact, fatigue, chemicals, moisture and heat. It can withstand temperatures of up to 400°C and offers improved strength for bulletproof and stab-resistant protective clothing.
