Solvay receives defense supplier award

Solvay’s subsidiary CEM Defense Materials has received a supplier award from Lockheed Martin.

The award covers technical capability, cost, program support, problem resolution and ease of doing business, according to Solvay. Suppliers must also meet quality metrics such as no rejection rates, maintenance of required certifications, plant continuity and reliable shipping.

“We have been collaborating closely with Lockheed Martin Aeronautics in many commercial and military projects demanding the highest levels of performance,” said Carmelo Lo Faro, president of Solvay’s materials segment.

CEM makes a variety of materials for use in aerospace, land, and marine defense including structural, ballistic, and multifunctional composites available as prepregs, tape or infusion resin systems.
