Sigmatex employee named Composites UK Apprentice of the Year

Industry trade association Composites UK has announced Tom Rockwood as Apprentice of the Year.

Tom, who has been employed at Sigmatex for just over a year, is part way through an HND in mechanical engineering and works within the maintenance team, supporting the mechanical and electrical teams. Since joining the business, he has become an integral part of the team and has worked on some high-level projects within the company’s Runcorn site.

‘Tom is Sigmatex’s first higher level apprentice and we’re very proud of his achievements to date,’ said Helen Symonds, HR manager at Sigmatex. ‘Tom’s enthusiasm, maturity, commitment and overall hard work is a credit to our business. Tom has a wonderful potential and is an inspiration to both the young and old within our team at Sigmatex and we’re really glad that he has been recognised by Composites UK for his achievements.’

Sigmatex was also announced as the winner of the Sustainability award for its efforts in developing a recycled carbon fiber product which utilises its production wastestream.
