Scott & Fyfe adds flame retardant glass mat to Polymat range

Scott & Fyfe says that the product will be targeted at applications requiring the highest level of fire performance, such as rail interior parts that must comply with standards such as EN 45545.

The product is comprised of a 100% glass core, which is sandwiched between two layers of chopped strand mat. Typically, laminates will achieve up to 40% by weight glass ratio, allowing for high strength laminates. The company adds that the product is also designed to offer fast and efficient resin flow, improving reliability of production when used with highly filled resins.

Paul McMullan, Business Manager, said: “Early response from the market has been very positive and we are excited about the position this product will take within the fire performance composites segment.”
