Scott Bader increases resin prices in Europe

The price increase of €75/tonne will be implemented from 17 September 2012, subject to existing customer contracts

Scott Bader, headquartered in the UK, says the price rise is necessary following recent raw material volatility and upward pressure on raw materials driven by higher crude oil prices, leading to higher costs for feed materials including benzene, styrene, ethylene and propylene.

“Scott Bader realises the fragile market conditions and the impact of additional price increases to our customers, but we are unable to absorb further costs and are forced to pass on these additional increases," says Bob Garner, European Sales Manager for Scott Bader Composites Europe.

  • Competitive resin suppliers Ashland and Reichhold have also announced September price increases.
