In the composites industry, the VersaMix is used as a mixer (and sometimes as a reactor) to produce a variety of end products and intermediates including reinforced epoxies, structural adhesives and sealants, epoxy hardeners, and nano-filled composites.
This mixer feature three independently-driven agitators. The high speed disperser quickly draws powders into the liquid batch through a powerful vortex. The rotor/stator carries out a number of tasks depending on the product being mixed – it can break down agglomerates, accelerate homogenisation, or prepare fine droplets in an emulsion. Finally, the low-speed anchor promotes bulk flow and uniform batch temperature while scraping the vessel sidewalls and bottom.
Ross notes that popular optional features include vacuum-capability, clean-in-place spray nozzles, temperature probes, interchangeable jacketed mix vessels, powder induction capability (available on special design rotor/stators), sight/charge ports, control panels and PLC systems.
The VersaMix is offered in many sizes from 1 through 4000 gallons capacity. Units are available for no-charge mixing trials at the Ross Test & Development Centre. Trial/rental units are also in stock.
