Rhodia says its patented polyamide (PA) based polymer matrix is suitable for use with continuous glass or carbon fibre reinforcements.

The resin is reported to be highly fluid which ensures that it fully penetrates and impregnates the reinforcing fibres.

The new polyamide composite is available as preimpregnated fabrics or sheets and is reported to surpass existing thermoplastic composites in terms of stiffness, strength, ageing and recyclability.  It is expected to find uses in structural parts for the transportation, construction and industrial markets.
