Preventative maintenance results in increased autoclave efficiency and maximised production up-time.

CTAL, a Rolls-Royce owned company, develops manufacturing processes for aircraft engine fan blades and fan cases made of composite materials.

Autoclave production and preventative maintenance of the equipment play a vital role within the £14.8 million facility, explains Garry Newton, CTAL Facility & Production Systems Manager.

“Autoclave cure of our composite components is critical for the mechanical performance of the finished article," he says.

"Preventative maintenance is absolutely key for reliability and ensuring process parameters are in control and capable. We chose Premier Autoclaves for this service due the thorough nature of the servicing package they provide.”

The contract includes:

  • annual major service of whole machine including gas burner service: functionality of all autoclave elements are fully tested and adjusted or replaced if necessary; and
  • annual calibration to customer specification: UKAS traceable equipment is used to calibrate vacuum transducers, thermocouple sockets, vessel and temperature sensors, and over pressure and over temperature alarms.

Premier Autoclaves Service & Solutions Ltd, located in Keighley, UK, specialises in providing service and after sales support to the autoclave Industry.
