Plant to produce 100,000 tonnes of raw materials from waste

INEOS has signed an agreement with sustainability company Plastic Energy to produce 100,000 tonnes of raw materials per year from plastic waste.

Production will be based in Köln, Germany and will use Plastic Energy’s TAC recycling technology which converts plastic waste into TACOIL raw oil material that can be used to create polymers with the same quality as unrecycled material.

The companies have already successfully produced the material at a small scale at the German plant, INEOS says.

“Our position is that advanced recycling has to be done at scale in order to make the process environmentally and commercially viable,” said Rob Ingram, CEO.
