Owens Corning licenses Twintex® composites technology to Fiber Glass Industries

Fiber Glass Industries (FGI), a supplier of glass fibre reinforcement products based in Amsterdam, New York, USA, will use Twintex to produce GLASS POLYPRO™ roving and fabrics that are made from co-mingled E-glass fibres and polypropylene (PP) filaments.

According to Tom Bruce, director of sales and marketing at Fiber Glass Industries, production of GLASS POLYPRO roving and fabrics will begin in September. Until then, material needs will be provided by Owens Corning.

“We are proud to manufacture a new line of co-mingled glass and thermoplastic fibres using industry-leading technology,” says Bruce. “This will allow for continuity of supply in the US for co-mingled glass and thermoplastic roving products, and also allow us to work with our customers to develop new applications for the products.”

Glass reinforcements supplier Owens Corning is based in Toledo, Ohio, USA. TWINTEX is a ready-to-use glass fibre thermoplastic technology based on co-mingled glass and thermoplastic filaments.
