Nantes site of new aerostructure plant

Aerospace composites specialist Daher has made plans to open a 1,600m2 technical center near Nantes, France.

The €7.5 million project should open in October 2022 and will employ 160 people, half of whom will work on research and development projects in aerostructures. The center will be next to Daher’s specialized production plant for thermoplastic aerospace components.

According to the company, all Daher composite material testing laboratories will now come together at a single site, and the tech center will oversee new developments in production and new processes such as induction welding. The center will also incorporate pre-development resources that bridge the gap between laboratory testing and the production line and facilities for analyses of materials and finished products. It will also be possible to conduct research on reducing production costs, reducing carbon footprint and improving performance.
